Ames Police are asking the public to help identify a man who robbed a Swift Stop early Wednesday morning

The Ames Police Department is asking the public to help identify a suspect who robbed an Ames gas station early Wednesday morning. 

The robbery happened at the Swift Stop at 3406 Lincoln Way just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect was described by a store employee as roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall and light skinned or Hispanic. At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie and a blue bandanna. He was also armed with a handgun. 

According to police, the suspect stole merchandise from the store and left with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was last seen leaving south on foot.
