Three Florida men have been arrested on multiple counts of burglary to motor vehicles in Ames late Sunday morning.

The men were arrested after the Ames Police noticed a car leaving the Ames Racquet and Fitness Club at high rate of speed.

The police reported that after seeing the car leaving the area, located near 320 S. 17th St., an officer noticed broken windows on vehicles in the lot.

A fellow Ames officer was in the area of Highway 30 and Interstate 35 and saw the vehicle pass him, according to police, and after a short pursuit, was able to gather license plate information.

The three men, Derrick Harmon, 27; Ahmed Hall, 27; and Denzel Sanon, 20, were later apprehended by state troopers after the driver crashed the vehicle and they attempted to flee on foot.

All three are charged with 3rd degree burglary of a motor vehicle and are currently being held in the Story County Jail.

This incident is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed, according to Ames Police.
