No. 10 Cyclone Hockey gets back on track with win over No. 19 Utah

Cyclone Hockey got back on track Friday night by beating No. 19 Utah 6-2 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.

The team came out swinging, as Jake Uglem scored a goal within the first five minutes of the game. He, and his brother Tony, played their first Cyclone Hockey game in two weeks after returning from Atlmany, Kazakhstan, where they represented Team USA in the World University Games.

The Cyclones netted two more goals by the end of the first period thanks to Jackson Graalum and Aaron Azevedo and led 3-0 going into the first frame.

Utah did not go away quietly, however. Fifty seconds into the period, the Utes tallied their first goal on a one-timer that slid right under the pad of Matt Goedeke.

But Trevor Sabo and Colton Kramer scored in the next five minutes to put the Cyclones up 5-1 going into the final period.

In the third, the Utes again were able to score first closing the defecit to three goals.

With 2:36 to play in the period, A.J. Gullickson put the game out of reach for good with a goal.
