The Ames Police Department reported Tuesday afternoon that a skimmer had been installed in a gas pump with no inclination as to how long it had been there. 

According to Commander Geoff Huff of the Ames Police, the skimmer was found at a Kum and Go on Duff ave by a maintenance person called in to fix a key that had broken off in the lock.

The department reported that there were no outward signs of tampering and there is no way for the department to know if any information was obtained by the skimmer before being discovered. 

The Ames Police suggest that if a card at had been used to purchase gas at this location, the owner should keep an eye on the card’s activity. If one believes that they are a victim, it is suggested that they call 239-5133.
