The Ames Police Department is warning the community of a possible on-going threat after a woman reported being forcibly taken from her car and sexually assaulted at Franklin Park early Saturday morning.

The victim was reportedly parked in a driveway north of Franklin Park when she was taken from her vehicle and dragged into the park, according to a press release by Ames Police. The police said she reported being assaulted multiple times between 2:45 a.m. and 5:15 a.m.

The victim sustained several injuries during the assault, according to the press release. She is not an Iowa State University student.

The victim reported the suspect in the investigation to be a light-skinned or multi-racial black male, of heavier build and about 5 feet 9 inches.

Ames Police said he was reported wearing a hooded sweatshirt, possibly grey, and jeans. The Ames Police are still investigating the incident.

Cmdr. Geoff Huff with Ames Police said that the situation is atypical, and that because the assailant is unknown, there is a possible on-going threat to the community.

Police are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to contact the Ames Police Department at (515) 239-5133 or the anonymous tip line at (515) 239-5533.
