Musical festivals to look forward to this summer

The school year is ending, and with the summer beginning, that means it is musical festival season. No matter what your personal music taste is, there is most likely a music festival out there for you. Some festivals have a stigma that it is a place for people to get wild and do inappropriate activities, but the bottom line is that music can bring different groups of people together. 

Here are a list of the upcoming musical festivals:

Rocketfest in Kansas City, Missouri will be on May 14. Tickets range from $27.50-$47.50. The lineup includes bands such as Disturbed, Hellyeah, Seether, and Drowning Pool. 

Northern Invasion in Somerset, Wisconsin on May 14-May 15. Tickets are on sale for $89.50. Camping is allowed at this festival. The headlining bands are A Day to Remember, Bring Me the Horizon, Disturbed, Korn, and Yelawolf. 

Soundset in St. Paul, Minnesota will be on May 29. The tickets range for $53-$88. The headliners include A$AP Rocky, Future, Danny Brown, Post Malone, and Common.

Spring Awakening is in Chicago, Illinois June 10-June 12. It is an electronic music festival. The lineup has yet to come out, but a general admission 3-day wristband costs $189.

Moon Dance Jammin Country will be in Walker, Minnesota June 17-June 18. The tickets are $125 and the headliners are Dierks Bentley, Randy Houser, and Travis Tritt. 

Mamby on the Beach will be in Chicago, Illinois on July 2-July 3 with tickets ranging from $115-$199. The lineup includes Milky Chance, Lupe Fiasco, Animal Collective and Chet Faker. 

80/35 Musical Festival will be in Des Moines, Iowa on July 8-July 9. Tickets range from $42-$90.  The lineup includes The Decemberists, Tires, Odd Pets and NAS. 

Summerfest will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 29-July 10. Tickets range from $20-$90. The lineup is rather large, but it includes Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Cheap Trick, Death Cab for Cutie, Elle King, Luke Bryan, Martin Garrix, Passion Pit, Selena Gomez, Weezer, and many more. 

Pitchfork Festival will be in Chicago, Illinois July 15-July 17. Tickets range from $140-$165. It includes names like Mick Jenkins, Miguel, Beach House, and Neon Indian. 

515 Alive will be in Des Moines, Iowa July 22-July 23 with tickets ranging from $29.75-$81.25. The lineup includes A$AP Ferg, Bear Grillz, Hippie Sabotage, and Zeds Dead. 

Lollapalooza is in Chicago, Illinois July 28-July 31. The tickets are currently sold out, so you would have to buy them off of someone or checkout websites like StubHub.com. The lineup includes Bastille, Disclosure, Future, A$AP Ferg, Lana Del Rey, and many more.

If you plan on attending a music festival this year remember to: drink a lot of water, know where your valuables are at all times, and wear comfortable shoes. Happy festival season.
