The Cyclones (14-6, 2-4 Big 12) lost to the No. 35 Baylor Lady Bears (15-13, 4-3 Big 12), 4-0, on Friday  at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

All season the Cyclones have focused on starting matches quick in doubles play to win the majority of their matches this season. But against the the Lady Bears, the Cyclones found it difficult to get things going early.

The Lady Bears started out fast in doubles play with the help of the No. 10 ranked Blair Shankle and Klah Generette. They defeated Samantha Budai and Liza Buss, the Cyclones top doubles pair, 6-1.

On the other hand, senior Alejandra Galvis and freshman Annabella Bonadonna was the only duo to win their doubles match. Galvis and Bonadonna defeated Rhiann Newborn and Karina Traxler, 6-2.

Similar to the Cyclones, the Lady Bears used their momentum from doubles play to carry them through singles. Baylor went on and won by defeating the Cyclones in three singles matches.

Budai faced her second ranked opponent in Big 12 play when she faced off against the 89th-ranked Shankle. Budai fell to Shankle 6-0, 6-3.

With the loss to Baylor, the Cyclones have now lost to four Big 12 opponents. The Cyclones will hope to split this weekend by earning a win from the highly ranked Texas Longhorns.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Sunday when they face off against the Texas Longhorns in Austin, Texas, at 12 p.m.
