The Cyclone women’s tennis team was in action Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. The team faced Omaha early in the afternoon then later took on North Dakota and ended the day with a pair of victories.

The matches kicked off with doubles; where all three sets were won by the Cyclones. Samantha Budai and Liza Buss won 6-3 against Hylen Miller and Kylie Boyer, Alejandra Galvis and Annabella Bonadonna took a 5-2 victory vs Molly Matricard and Janel Wilson and finally Ana Kuuttila with partner Regina Espinola Defeated Hannah and Kenzi Hill of UNO. The final score was 4-0

In the second match against North Dakota, Doubles were not the highlight. Iowa State did not get off to a great start like coach Armando Espinosa anticipated. Budai and Buss lost 3-6, Galvis and Bonadonna also lost 3-5. Fortunately, Espinola and Kuuttali finished with a 6-1 victory.

The highlights of the day were the 6-0, 6-0, shout-outs by Anna Kuttalli and Anna Bonadonna. They were the first to finish their matches.

With the full team scoreboard at the Knapp Tennis Center, their teammates could see how quickly they took care of their opponents and with a little bit of sideline coaching from coach Espinosa, the Cyclones kicked it into gear and finished with a 6-1 victory.

The Cyclones will have an opportunity to go 3-0 for the weekend. They will be hosted by Drake Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
