Cyclone Hockey takes down Twin City Steel

Cyclone Hockey took down the Twin City Steel, 5-2, in the only game of the series Friday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.

Jake Uglem started the scoring for the Cyclones less than 5 minutes into the game on an unassisted goal for the first of his two goals on the night.

The Cyclones continued their dominance in the first period at 11:06 on a Preston Blanek goal off an assist from Jake Bruhn. Then they struck again in the opening period thanks to a goal from Trevor Sabo off feeds from Colton Kramer and Cory Sellers.

The Cyclones got back on the scoreboard in the second period on a goal at 9:31 from Kramer off an assist from linemate Aaron Azevedo to increase the Cyclone lead to 4-0.

The Steel got on the scoreboard for the first time 5:29 into the third period on a goal from Tyler Hoff.

The Cyclones finished with Jake Uglem’s second goal of the night off of assists from Kramer and Tony Uglem.

The Steel added a late goal with under two minutes left in the game, but it was too late.

Cyclone Hockey will have the rest of the weekend off, but returns to action next weekend when it hosts defending national champions Central Oklahoma for the team’s second series of the year.
