Iowa State faced a reversal on Nov. 18 as Kansas State swept it in Manhattan, Kan., with scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18.

Iowa State (16-9, 9-5 Big 12) started the first set on a 5-0 run and looked to play the same way when it swept Kansas State (17-8, 9-4 Big 12) at home on Oct. 7. The Wildcats came back to tie it at 14 apiece and later win the set 25-23.

In the second set, the score remained close until the 15-point mark. Then, Kansas State took control of the set and closed it out with some solid defense to win the set, 25-20.

Going into halftime, Iowa State was looking to stay alive in the third set. It was a tie set at 11 apiece before Kansas State went on an 8-0 run to make it 19-11. After the run, it was too hard for the Cyclones to recover. They lost 25-18.

Iowa State didn’t have player that reached double digits in kills in the match for the first time this season. The team also recorded a negative hitting percentage in the third set at -.048, meaning they made more errors than kills.

Iowa State has a couple days off to recover from the loss before it faces Texas Tech (14-14, 3-11 Big 12) on Nov. 21. The match will take place at 3 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas. The Cyclones swept the Red Raiders at home on Sept. 26 to start the Big 12 season.
