An ROTC color guard, comprised of multiple branches of the armed forces, stands at attention at the Gold Star Hall Ceremony. The memorial, which was held in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, took place on Nov. 11 and honored five fallen alumni of Iowa State.

Soldiers who perished in World War II and Vietnam will be honored Monday in the Gold Star Hall during the Gold Star Hall Ceremony.

The ceremony, which will begin at 3:15 p.m., will pay homage to three Iowa Staters who were killed in battle.

Walter Wilson died in WWII during a bombing mission over Japan in 1945. Wilson graduated from Iowa State in 1941. Ted Rule and John Shelby Pooler both died during the Vietnam War. Both men perished during a battle at Loc Ninh on Nov. 29, 1968. Rule died during a heroic act, and Pooler died while trying to save the life of a fellow soldier.

The ceremony is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow.
