ISU soccer drops another Big 12 game

The ISU women’s soccer team scored its first goal in Big 12 play but dropped another game against another conference foe.

Iowa State traveled to Austin, Tex., to take on the Texas Longhorns on Friday night. 

The first half was a defensive battle as Iowa State and Texas remained gridlocked after 45 minutes of play.

Texas had three shots on goal in the first half compared to Iowa State’s one.

Texas got on the scoreboard first in the 60th minute. 

The Cyclones battled back when junior Koree Willer put Iowa State on the board and tied the game, 1-1.

The score remained tied until Texas knocked in a goal in 80th minute to give the Longhorns a 2-1 lead. 

It came down to an ISU corner kick in the 88th minute. The Cyclones had the chance to tie the game and send it into overtime but couldn’t capitalize.

Iowa State fell to Texas, 2-1. It scored its first goal in Big 12 play but didn’t find its first conference win. 

The Cyclones will take a break from Big 12 when they take on the Northern Iowa Panthers on Tuesday in Ames, Iowa.
