Iowa State Women’s Golf place seventh at Windy City Collegiate

The Iowa State Cyclones Women’s golf team finished seventh out of 15 teams in this year’s Windy City Collegiate.

The Cyclones used scores of 294, 287 and 290 to card an 871 stroke total. Northwestern, Arizona and Georgia all had tournament scores of 852 to tie for first place in the tournament at Wilmette Golf Course. Iowa State moved up one spot in the final rankings after the third round, despite carding a 290, their second highest round of the tournament.

Sophomore Celia Barquin finished in the top 10 again this week, her third such finish this fall. Barquin shot a three round score of 213 to place ninth in the individual standings. Barquin has now finished in the top 10 every tournament this fall. And out of her 14 career tournaments, Barquin has finished in the top 10 in eight of them.

Freshman Parinda Phokan was one stroke away from also finishing in the top 10. Parinda shot a three round total of 214 to finish tied for fourteenth, including a 68 in the second round, her first sub 70 round of her career.

Iowa State will play their next tournament at the Stanford Intercollegiate starting on October 18.
