No. 5 Cyclone Hockey dropped its first game of the season to the No. 2 Ohio Bobcats on Friday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, 5-4.

The Bobcats struck first, scoring a goal early in the first period and another midway through the second.

Freshman forward Tony Uglem got the Cyclones on the board quickly after the Bobcat goal in the second. However, every time the Cyclones got within one goal, the Bobcats would respond with a goal of their own to keep the two-goal lead.

Jon Severson for the Cyclones lit the lamp with 30 seconds left in the game to make it 5-4, but it was too little too late.

Cyclone Hockey will have the opportunity for revenge Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena. Cyclones are 6-1 on the season heading into Saturday’s matchup.
