Cyclone Hockey Ends Weekend With Second Victory

Cyclone Hockey didn’t have an offensive explosion on the later half of the opening season double header like they did in game one.

The game still concluded in the same fashion, a 4-1 victory over the Huntsville Havoc.

Captain Cory Sellers started the scoring with a first period goal past Huntsville Goaltender Zach Grasley.

The Havoc bounced back at the 11:02 mark in the first period when forward Michael Swiderski slapped in the rebound to tie the score at one. That would be the end of the scoring for Huntsville.

Sophomore Michael Smart started the game between the pipes for the Cyclones and saved 14 of 15 shots before exiting the game at 9:02 in the second period.

Sophomore Nic Wackerly entered the game and along with Smart and the defensive line, allowed the Cyclones to stay true to its stout defensive philosophy by keeping the Havoc off of the scoreboard for the final 50 minutes of the game.

Freshmen Michael Addison and Adam Alcott each added a goal each for their first as Cyclones.

Alex Grose put in the final goal for Cyclone Hockey as they left the Ames/ISU Ice Arena with its second victory of the weekend.

Cyclone Hockey will take the ice again when they host Southern Illinois Edwardsville next weekend for a double header.
