Nigel Tribune on last season’s mentality

During last season when the ISU football team only won two games, players would go into games knowing they were going to lose, junior cornerback Nigel Tribune said.

“I think a lot of the times last year… we went into the games knowing we were going to lose,” Tribune said.

ISU head coach Paul Rhoads said this season will bring change in leadership in chemistry. The negativity from last season is surely part of why Rhoads is pushing for change.

Tribune said with the change, he knows negativity won’t be a problem this season.

“I think that is something that isn’t going to happen this year, for sure,” he said. “It’s an immature thing, on my part, I think, for letting it happen.”

Scuffle in practice

Qujuan Floyd and other defensive backs got into a “little scuffle” with some of the wide receivers during fall camp, Floyd said Thursday.

Receivers Darius Lee-Campbell and Quan West were doing a bubble screen drill with the defense when one of the receivers pushed Floyd, he said.

Floyd and the other defensive backs didn’t let it slide and came right back.

“I went back at him,” Floyd said. “It wasn’t anything serious at the time. It was reaction and first day of camp. Got to be aggressive.”

After the fight, it was business as usual. Floyd said it was just like “brotherly love” and nothing came afterward.
