Funeral service announced for drowned ISU national guardsman

The funeral service for ISU student and national guardsman Drew Bellairs is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa, the Iowa National Guard announced in a press release. 

Bellairs was on duty with the 506th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, when he drowned while swimming at Marbo Cave, Mangilao, Guam, on July 25. 

The burial will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn. Memorials may be directed to the Drew Bellairs Memorial Fund for the family’s re-designation to various charities and organizations.

Bellairs, who had just completed his freshman year in May, majored in criminal justice and was a part of the ISU Flying Club and ISU Skiing Club.
