A separate smaller group lived up to its end of the bargain at a location that is just about the farthest place from home — Palo Alto, Calif.

The sprinters, hurdlers and senior Christina Hillman highlighted the team’s appearance at the Musco Twilight on Saturday in Iowa City.

After placing fourth in the shot put at the Drake Relays, Hillman took the title in the event at the Musco Twilight with a mark of 53-09.

Junior Alyssa Gonzalez recorded her fourth personal record of the season in the 400-meter hurdles, outpacing the field with her first ever sub-minute performance in the event.

Senior Kendra White added a third title for Iowa State in the 400-meter run, running a career best time of 53.43.

In Palo Alto at the Payton Jordan Invitational, freshman Abby Caldwell regained the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after loosing it to fellow teammate Colleen Riley at the Drake Relays a week ago. Caldwell finished fourth in the event with a time of 10:19.21.

Redshirt senior Katy Moen concluded action for Iowa State at the Payton Jordan Invitational with an appearance in the 10,000-meter run. Moen shattered her personal record in the event by more than 20 seconds, finishing 16th with a time of 33:09.63.
