In his last season as a Cyclone, senior all-American Edward Kemboi will get another chance at a crown.

Kemboi punched his ticket to his fifth straight NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 800-meter race, finishing first in the entire field with a time of 1:46.23 at the NCAA West Preliminaries on May 29 in Austin, Texas.

The seven-time Big 12 winner has never won at the NCAA outdoor meet but has a handful of wins at the NCAA Indoor Championships — most recently at the 2015 Indoor Championship, winning the 800 and the 1,000-meter race.

Joining Kemboi will be German shot putter Jan Jeuschede. The junior will make his third straight appearance at the NCAA meet after besting his personal-best throw by two feet with his 63-foot-1.25-inch mark.

Logan Schneider in the 110-meter hurdles, Patrick Peterson in the 800 and Henry Kelley in the hammer throw saw their seasons end after they were unable to make the top-12 cutoff for the NCAA meet.

The final day of the NCAA West Preliminaries for the ISU men’s track and field team will begin and end with Brian Biekert in the 1,500-meter run at 6:45 p.m.
