Senior Edward Kemboi takes a breather after finishing first in the 800-meter run. The Big 12 Indoor Championship took place at Lied Recreation Athletic Center on Feb. 28. Texas took the trophies for both men’s and women’s track and field.

A personal record here. A personal record there. Personal records seemingly everywhere.

That was the story for the ISU men’s track and field team in Palo Alto, Calif. and Iowa City, Iowa, where it notched five personal records just a couple of weeks away from the Big 12 Outdoor Championship at Iowa State.

Despite the personal records, it was still All-American Edward Kemboi who once again led the charge with his 1:46.17 time in the 800-meter race, which just missed his personal best. It put him fourth in the nation in the event and marked his season best.

The 1,500-meter run treated the Cyclones well, with Toby Hardwick and Brian Biekart notching their personal records at the Payton Jordan Invitational in California.

The same could be said for the 800-meter run for the Cyclones, where two more runners were able to top their personal bests. Jacob Aune ran a 1:51.37 in the Payton Jordan Invitational and his teammate, Nathan Rodriguez—running unattached—ran a 1:51.64 at the Musco Twilight Invitational in Iowa.

Up next for the Cyclones is the Big 12 Outdoor Championship on May 15-17 in Ames, Iowa.
