Who has a chance for the NCAA Outdoor Championships?

Luke Manderfeld

With the Big 12 Outdoor Championships almost underway, its time to think about the NCAA Outdoor Championships looming on the horizon.

There are a few ISU men’s track and field runners who have a chance at clinching a spot at the end-of-year meet.

1. Edward Kemboi, runner: The Indoor all-American in the 800-meter will hope to clinch a spot to defend his title. He will be competing in the 800-meter run and 4×400 relay.

2. Taylor Sanderson, decathlon: Sanderson had his best score in the decathlon in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15 through 17. His score of 7,360 was fifth in the nation at the time. He is almost on the border of qualifying for the national meet but will try and improve on that score during the weekend. At last season’s Big 12 meet, he scored a 6,925.

3. Cameron Ostrowski, jumper: Ostrowski has been hampered by an ankle injury all outdoor season, but has used the two weeks off to full advantage. He struggled with a similar injury last season and will attempt to best his personal best in the high jump in 2013 at 7-feet-2.5-inches.
