Elena Foster, freshman in elementary education, will be one of the many females in the ensemble for Iowa State Theater’s production of Les Misérables.

She has been acting for almost her entire life, since the second grade.

“I went to an acting camp my friend’s mom ran and I’ve been involved with it [acting] ever since,” Foster said.

Foster has performed in about 10 plays and was looking for a way to continue her streak of expressing herself at Iowa State, since it is her first year.

“I’m in band and choir, but acting is such a different way to express who you are, [as] opposed to classical things or playing an instrument,” Foster said.

Besides acting, Foster is involved with marching band, concert band and Iowa State Singers.

After she graduates from college, Foster hopes to accept a role at a community theater in addition to her job as an elementary school teacher.

According to Foster, acting is her get away from the real world and a way to step into another person’s role.
