Iowa State faced a tough doubleheader against Texas.

In the opening game of the two game-set, Texas jumped out to an early first inning lead against Iowa State, 1-0. The scoring did not stop there for the Longhorns as they put up four more runs in the second to extend their lead to 5-0.

Texas went on to shutout Iowa State 8-0 in five innings.

In the second game, the scoring eased up. Like the first game, the Longhorns jumped to an early 1-0 lead against the Cyclones. Texas then extended its advantage by two more runs in the second.

Iowa State finally got on to the scoreboard in the fourth to make the score 3-1 and scored again in sixth, when junior Aly Cappaert hit a solo home run to bring the Cyclones back to within one.

It was the closest the Cyclones would get, however, ultimately falling to the Longhorns by a score of 3-2.

Iowa State takes the diamond April 19 at 1 p.m. in the final game of a three-game series against Texas.
