Veterinarian shoots cat with arrow, posts to FB

You’d think modern Internet users would be more aware of what we post, but I guess not. People boasting about really stupid things has always been a tradition of the Internet, but this veterinarian took it too far when she posted a picture of herself on Facebook, proudly holding an arrow’s shaft on which an orange tabby cat was skewered through its head.

Dr. Kristen Lindsey, a Texas veterinarian, allegedly shot the cat and posted the picture of herself online with the photo heading, “My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head! Vet of the year award…gladly accepted.”

Smooth.

As expected, outrage ensued. The Washington County Animal Clinic — where Lindsey was working prior to being canned for this stupid move — experienced phone calls out the ying yang, and its website crashed from all of the traffic.

According to CNN, Lindsey’s prey may not have been a feral cat, but a pet to an elderly couple. An animal rescuer reported the couple’s cat, “Tiger,” had gone missing on Wednesday. Lindsey posted the picture of the skewered cat on Wednesday. Hmmmmm.

CNN also reported that, as the social media/calling storm grew, Lindsey commented on the photo, “no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome!”

Well the animal clinic definitely fired her and even took her name off of its marquis by covering it with duct tape.

As her post went viral, callers blew up the phones of the Brenham Police Department and Washington County Animal Control office.

The dispatchers were so attacked by the upset public that the Austin County sheriff posted on Facebook, “We are asking you to please take it easy on our dispatchers. As soon as the investigation is complete, we will post relevant information here on this page.”

Animal rights activists are also taking a stand, with Alley Cat Allies offering a $7,500 reward for evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot the tabby cat.

Not everyone is beating Lindsey down, though. One loyal customer said Lindsey is “amazing” and “caring,” and that same customer dropped off balloons and a thank you note for Lindsey at the animal clinic.

The world has gone nuts.
