Block and Bridle Club is a student organization at Iowa State for those interested in animal agriculture. With hundreds of active members on campus, many people join for the social connections the club and its activities provide.

“I think one of my favorite things about this club is getting to travel around the country and gain networking opportunities, but more importantly there’s a “family” feeling,” said junior Morgan Pittz. “Officers and committee members work hard to ensure that there activities for all members and that members reach their potential.”

Activities offered include club-sponsored livestock shows, a club formal dance, and community outreach events.

Club president Matt Schulte said there are over 500 members currently participating in the club.

“It’s a good way for students to learn more about animal agriculture and see what it has to offer,” Schulte said.

For those who want to get involved with Block and Bridle club, Schulte said there are a lot of opportunities.

“Anyone can go to meetings, join the club, and apply for committee positions, or even just volunteer to help out,” Schulte said. “We’ve always got options open.”

Those who want to see the club in action to can attend the Animal Learning Day event the club is hosting at the Deb and Jeff Hansen Agriculture Learning Center located at 2516 Mortensen Rd this Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
