Screen Scene Thursday: Comedy gold

If you watched the roast of Justin Bieber on March 3 you may have caught a glimpse at the new comedy, “Masterminds,” which stars some big name comedians. However, there’s another ridiculous comedy that recently released its trailer that’s flying a bit more under the radar titled, “The D Train.”

“Masterminds” stars Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Zach Galifianakis, so yeah rest assured it’s probably going to be up there with “We’re the Millers” in terms of laughability. The film centers on Galifianakis’ character, a moronic night guard who attempts to pull off one of the biggest heists in history with Wiig’s character as his sidekick. From the first teaser trailer it’s tough to tell what Wilson’s role is in the film, but Sudeikis seems to be playing a paid assassin with just as low of an IQ as the rest of them.

“The D Train,” however, looks to focus on a less enjoyable yet nostalgic topic: high school reunions. Jack Black’s character is the head of his high school’s reunion committee, and in a desperate attempt he travels to L.A. to find the most successful guy from his graduating class, played by James Marsden. It looks like a cross between “Get Him to the Greek” and “American Reunion,” but I think anyone will see a comedy with Jack Black in it.

“The D Train” is set to come out on May 8, while “Masterminds” is making audiences wait until August 7. Links to each trailer can be found below.
