Why you should be excited for HBO NOW

Last month, HBO and Apple announced a partnership that would make HBO series and movies available for streaming on the Apple iPhone, iPad and on Apple TV. The move comes just before the fifth season of the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones” is set to release.

This is an exciting move for HBO, Apple and for you as a consumer. Today, Americans watch more TV than anytime in the history and with the advent of Netflix streaming, Hulu and Amazon streaming services HBO realized the necessity of staying competitive through a streaming subscription service. Until now the only way to watch “Game of Thrones” or any other HBO series was through paying for an HBO subscription, which allowed access to HBO GO, or of course finding it somewhere online.

HBO NOW doesn’t have a set release date, though it is expected to release before the premiere of “Game of Thrones” on April 12, and will cost $15 a month. This move also means more good news to Apple fans because Apple has lowered the price of it’s Apple TV to $69 and is rumored to be coming out with a new and more powerful Apple TV later this year. Though Apple is the first to pair with HBO, if you are not an Apple fan don’t worry as I expect to see more companies get on board as HBO NOW grows.

Now no more going to a shady website to watch a show you don’t have access too with low quality and Arab subtitles. Though the price is a little steep compared to Netflix and Hulu at $7.99 a month and Amazon Prime at $99 a year or about $8.25 a month, the quality of HBO series makes the price understandable. Many will still choose to watch the free Arab version of “Game of Thrones” online, however HBO NOW is something to be excited about.
