Early Bird EDM: Spring Break special

Sam Vander Forest

As Spring Break is rapidly approaching, I’m sure many students are doing last minute shopping, scrambling to get homework done, fitting in their last tanning sessions and preparing playlists for the week of debauchery that lies ahead. Whether you’re heading to Panama City Beach, Gulf Shores, Cancun, or really anywhere, music is an essential factor. Here are three key EDM songs that can each play a different but pivotal role in your beachfront shenanigans.

-Mr. Belt & Wezol- “Finally”

This duo is based out of the Netherlands and produces great House dance tracks, and their latest, “Finally,” infuses a snippet of CeCe Peniston’s 1991 classic dance song. 90s dance and UK songs heavily influence the duo, and CeCe’s song succeeded in both of those categories. Mr. Belt & Wezol took the best parts of that old genre and modernized it with today’s House.

-Jack Ü- “Take Ü There”

Jack Ü is the collaborative DJ duo consisting of Skrillex and Diplo, and although their track “Take Ü There” isn’t new or under the radar, it is certainly a perfect Spring Break song. The track has a wide range of melodies and sounds, which is classic of both Diplo and Skrillex. The vocals from Kiesza are out of this world, the use of Caribbean-style percussion adds to the sound and the drop is nothing like you’d expect.

-Vanic and Aquilo- “Losing You”

For those of you who find yourself in a tough situation with your significant other right around Spring Break, or you just love chill trap music, then this song is for you. I hope none of you find yourself in that situation, but this song is everything you could want in a trap song. Vanic has been featured on this segment before and his team up with Aquilo justifies his return.
