There are numerous private nannying positions available throughout Ames, including positions that are strictly for the summer, short-term etc. Some positions include being a family assistant and/or a tutor. 

As an office assistant in the Design Administration department of the College of Design, you’ll communicate with current and prospective students, which includes tours, special events and attending Experience Iowa State check-in sites at the MU. You’ll deal with mailings, phone calls and other basic office tasks, like filing, entering data, typing and helping with phone surveys of graduates. You’ll be paid $8 an hour, working six to eight hours a week. You can apply by emailing [email protected], and start your position (if hired) on May 18.

If you’d like to be an outdoor gardener for Reiman Gardens, then simply apply online at reimangardens.com. Job responsibilities include weeding, deadheading, watering, fertilizing, maintaining permanent plantings, rotating displays in the outdoor gardens, installing plants, mowing, raking, etc. You’ll also be expected to answer questions from garden visitors, so knowledge and/or experience with plants is helpful. You must be able to lift 50+ pounds, have a tolerance for various weather conditions and have a current driver’s license. You can make up to $10 an hour and the job beings as soon as possible, if hired.

If you know how to play an instrument, you can be a guitar instructor or a violin instructor at Ames Music Studios. As a server/bartender at the Ames Golf and Country Club, you’ll be…well…a server and a bartender. Past experience isn’t required, but you will need to be available during the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7:45 – 3p.) The position begins when the course opens, probably later this month. Advance Auto Parts is hiring a part time salesperson. You can start this job a.s.a.p. if hired and make up to $8.50 an hour. Car knowledge isn’t required, but preferred. You’ll be selling products to do-it-yourself customers. You’ll have to know how to use the selling model, you’ll stock shelves and you’ll clean the store. Apply online at advanceautoparts.jobs.
