The ISU boxing club is hosting the Midwest Regional Boxing championships this weekend at State Gym. As several ISU boxers prepare attempts to qualify for the national tournament, Olivia Meyer and Josue Avila are two of the top boxers in the club.

Meyer is coming off a national championship season in the 147 weight class.

In order to reach the national championship, the club will face stiff competition. Schools traveling to Ames this weekend with a common goal of making it to nationals are Miami (Ohio), North Carolina, U.S. Naval Academy, Xavier, Cincinnati, West Virginia, and Wabash.

The top boxers from each school and weight class will then move onto the national tournament that is to be held April 10-12, in Sunrise, Florida.
