Texas-born indie/pop dance musician Luis Dubuc, more commonly known as “Mystery Skulls,” dropped his LP entitled “Forever” last fall, but it went fairly under the radar. The LP contains 11 tracks and has gained more recent attention with the release of new music videos, specifically his song “Magic” featuring disco’s heavyweight Nile Rodgers and R&B icon Brandy.

The track “Magic” perfectly blends today’s electronic dance genre with old disco and Dubuc’s music has helped introduce many EDM fans to the disco roots that inspire his style. The vocals and tone of the track are reminiscent of a Matthew Koma track mixed with Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories.” That sound is no coincidence, however, since Nile Rodgers collaborated heavily on the track and Rodgers played a big part in that Daft Punk album.

Mystery Skulls’ Luis Dubuc is doing something right, since Rodgers called him out of the blue to work together and his tracks are making the rounds with various remixes and fueling countless dance parties.

Check out the full LP on Spotify or YouTube and get a listen of “Magic” below. Prepare to get your groove on in embarrassing places because the man’s tracks really are the disco-dance of our generation.
