Sporty date ideas

Shelby Kramer

We all know first dates are exciting and scary, hopeful and potentially scarring, so the setting and events that take place can really make a difference.  Here are some ideas for the sport-minded person to try to kick things off doing something he or she enjoys.

Go to the park, play some disc golf

There’s plenty to do at the park, including the not-too-noisy or physically demanding game of disc golf. You could also go fishing, take a canoe or paddle boat on a lake, go for a walk or play other games like frisbee or throw a football. Stay in touch with nature and save some dough, a win-win.

Hockey game

Hockey games are full of excitement and energy, plus the events that take place can be great conversation starters. One of the downfalls of taking a prospective babe to a hockey game, however, is the noise. Don’t expect much scintillating conversation when the game clock is running.

Are you into archery or shooting?

Taking a first date out to shoot some stuff might be a cool and unique way to start things off, plus you get to potentially show off your skills. If you don’t have your own equipment or aren’t into that sort of thing, take your date to a shooting or archery range, paintball field, or whatever. The new experience could be fun and exciting for both of you.

Wintertime

Snowfall makes for experiences that aren’t available in the warmer months. Go on a date to a snowboarding/ski resort. Go snow tubing at a big ‘ole hill or at a professional establishment. Try some ice skating. Get out there, freeze your butt off and have a good time.

Summa,’ summa’

During summer months, the range for outdoor activities increases dramatically. Activities include, boating, attending concerts, going to a fair or festival, taking bike rides through the city, touring gardens, sitting around a bonfire. The list is endless. Go do stuff.
