College Gameday in Ames

Kyle Kubiak

If someone tells you that hosting college game day is not that big of a deal, please let them know that they are wrong.

This is huge for Iowa State. Let me tell you my 5 top reasons why.

1. This is huge for the University overall, not just the basketball team or even just the athletics department. College game day puts Ames, Iowa and our campus on the map. More exposure is never bad.

2. This is a huge tool for recruiting, specifically basketball but other sports as well. If you are able to show high school athletes that your college is a big enough name to host a college game day, then obviously your school is on the up and up. Top basketball recruits dream of playing on college game day with ESPN in town. Iowa State already has the majority of its games on the national spotlight and this only boasts it.

3. Huge impact for the NBA. There will be tons of NBA scouts watching the huge amount of talent that will be displayed between Kansas and the Cyclones.

4. We were chosen as the first college game day of the season. Everyone in the nation will be watching, huge chance to get a big win and grab some momentum for the rest of Big 12 play.

5. IT’S COLLEGE GAME DAY BABY. EVERYONE SHOULD BE EXCITED. Make signs, get loud and be proud.

Saturday will be exciting for everyone, but the Cyclone faithful deserves this. Students wait in line overnight for games and more than likely will be for game day as well. This is a nice reward to their dedication and the amount of love they show for our athletes.
