Things got personal for the ISU men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Holiday Inn Invitational on Jan. 16.

Redshirt senior Anna Holtermann was the first of a handful of athletes to earn personal records for the Cyclones at the invitational in Lincoln, Neb.

Holtermann recorded her personal-best mark in the weight throw for the ISU women’s team. The weight traveled 51 feet, 10 inches, leading to a third-place overall finish.

Two milers for the men’s team recorded personal records, including Matthew Whitlatch and Jason Thomas. Julie Wiemerslage clocked a career-best time in the mile on the women’s side.

To round it out, redshirt sophomore Brian Llamas clocked a career record of 2:31.47 in the men’s 1000-meter run.

Iowa State returns for day two of the invitational Jan. 17 at 11 a.m.
