Iowa State outlasts Stony Brook 74-64

The Lowdown

After one week off, the Iowa State Cyclones (5-1, 0-0 Big 12) hosted the Stony Brook Seawolves (3-5 , 0-0 American East) in their sixth non-conference matchup of the season. The Cyclones played a tight game with the Seawolves but came out on top 74-64.

The Seawolves jumped out to an early lead, starting the game with a 12-5 run. The Cyclones quickly rallied, however, and were able to take a two-point lead by halftime.

The second half was more of the same, with neither team able to take control of the game. The Cyclones were able to pull away in the final minutes, however, coming up with a pair of 3-point plays.

Nikki Moody led the Cyclones in scoring with 24 points, a career best for the senior. Seanna Johnson and Jadda Buckley followed Moody with 19 and 13 points respectively.

X-Factor

Moody finished the game with a career-high 24 points, seven assists and four rebounds. She made several big plays at the end of the game as well, including a 3-pointer that helped the Cyclones pull ahead of the Seawolves.

Up Next

The Cyclones will see action next Dec. 11 when they take on the No. 22 Iowa Hawkeyes. The annual Cy-Hawk game will start at 7 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
