Kevin Durant shines in return, struggling Thunder still fall

One of the NBA’s biggest stars, Kevin Durant, is back in action for the first time this season. Suffering a shattering setback leading up to the season, his broken foot has now mended.

While Durant’s absence was definitely felt, he is far from the only member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a team that, when healthy, is considered by most to be a title contender. With two of the league’s biggest stars, athletic, smart big men, and a great coaching staff, it is not much of a surprise. Struggling out of the gates to one of the worst records in the league, the five win and 12 lose Thunder got their stud back Tuesday.

With all this build up, one would think they would shoot out the gates with an easy victory over Tuesday’s opponent, the New Orleans Pelicans. This was not the case. The Pelicans are hot, and it is obvious that the Thunder will need some time to get their groove back. Not all hope is lost though, Durant lead the way with 27 points and looked as athletic as ever. It will be interesting to watch how the immediate future unfolds with the Thunder. Currently with eight more losses than wins, it will be tough for this team to make it out of the highly competitive Western Conference. Stay with us here at the Iowa State Daily for all NBA updates.
