Can’t Get Enough of that Denim

Denim seems to be making a comeback after a long period of yoga pants and leggings. With the 90s trend in full swing, denim is being worn in many ways, and jean trends are re-emerging.

It’s time to put away the sweatpants and slip into some denim. Denim is still comfortable but looks like you did more than just roll out of bed. There are a lot of denim styles trending this season.

“Overalls are one of the biggest re-emerging trends this year, if you’re bored with your typical jeans, go grab some patchwork jeans or paint splattered denim, also of course the high-waisted jean will be in full force this season,” Andrew Paulsen, assistant designer at AG Green Label in California, said. “To finish off fall 2014 trends would have to be the baggy boyfriend jean — every girl out here has a pair.”

Boyfriend jeans are a new style that has been hitting the runways and the streets this past summer and fall season.

“Boyfriend jeans are typically fitted around the hips and then relaxed through the leg, but there are many styles in order to flatter the many body types,” Alex Schuett, sales intern at Silver Jeans and Company and senior in apparel, merchandising and design, said. This means there’s a pair out there for everyone, so don’t be shy — all you need to do is find the right pair for you.

After finding the right fit, there are different things you can do to help style them and make them your own.

“If you’re going to rock the boyfriend jeans, which are easy to wear, throw on a shirt with a denim jacket around your waist, with some outlandish flats that you bought but haven’t worn yet and some good accessories, bracelets, rings and finish it with some shades to block out all the haters,” Paulsen said.

This is the perfect look for running around town or to a casual lunch with friends. If you want to dress up the look, Schuett recommended styling them with a basic v-neck tee, blazer and heels.

“Whether you plan on dressing up this trend or keeping it casual these jeans can be virtually worn anywhere,” Schuett said. “From class to going out on the town, boyfriend jeans are absolutely an option!”
