Screen Scene: Furious 7

The “Fast and Furious” crew is back in what Dominic Toretto calls “one last ride,” that’s set to hit the big screen on April 3rd. It’s been a long wait for fans of the series after filming was postponed following the death of lead actor Paul Walker last November.

Despite the passing of arguably the most beloved actor in the series, director James Wan decided to move forward with the film pushing it to this spring. The trailer released this past Saturday at 2 p.m., and quickly grabbed views worldwide. The preview follows the same format as many of the F&F film trailers before it, but continues to bring a huge impact.

Opening with the usual witty repartee we’ve come to love from the “family” of automobile thieves, it quickly lets the fans know that they haven’t changed and they’re back in full swing. So as to not give away too much of the trailer, just know that they’re pushing the limits of action and car sequences once again, and we should be ready to witness some epic fight sequences between Jason Statham and the crew. Imagine the original sequences we’ve seen from past F&F films, but inject them with steroids the likes of Jason Statham in “The Transporter.” Sounds epic, right?

When James Wan was selected to take over as director after Justin Lin left, many people, myself included, were worried. Wan’s film history mainly contains horror films, which doesn’t seem to click, clearly. The trailer, however, has reinstated trust in him for many people.

It will be interesting to see how Walker’s brothers fill in for him and pay homage to the character of Brian O’Connor. It will also be interesting to see how the characters end up, since this has been hinted as the last ride for the crew. If you haven’t seen the trailer already, get ready for insane stunts, exotic locations, sexy cars, one damn good song and ultimately sweaty hands. On April 3rd, vengeance hits home.
