No. 12 Cyclone Hockey was looking to split the series against the No. 14 Illinois, but it was off to a rough start by being down 2-0 in the first period.

The Cyclones (6-8-3) looked to dig themselves out of a big hole in the second frame and did so by way of an Alex Stephens goal that narrowed the score to 2-1.

 The Cyclones outshot the Fighting Illini (12-5-0) 13-9 in the second.

Cyclone Hockey kept the pressure on, but could not manage to score in the third period.

Cyclone Hockey outshot Illinois in the period once again, but fell short 2-1 to lose the game and the series.
