Cyclone Hockey lost 2-1 in overtime against the Minot State Beavers on Nov. 7 in Minot, N.D.

The first period was dominated by fast play from both teams. The Cyclones had trouble putting the puck on net, despite having most of the puck possession. They were out shot 13-10 but limited the Beavers’ shots to the outside. Going into the first intermission, the score stayed tied at zero.

The second period saw much of the same fast-paced action as the first. The fast play helped Minot State draw a penalty and subsequently score the first goal of the game. The Cyclones failed to even the score, despite having multiple scoring chances on two power plays.

The Cyclones capitalized on the next power play in the third period to knot the game at one. But both sides couldn’t pull ahead, forcing the game into overtime.

The Beavers scored the overtime winner on a 2-on-1 created by a turnover in the neutral zone and handed the Cyclones their second-straight loss.

Cyclone Hockey will have a chance at a split at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in Minot, N.D.
