Carmelo and company spoil LeBron’s homecoming

Thursday night, LeBron James took to the court in a Cavalier’s jersey for the first time in over four years. This summer, in what seemed to be a Cinderella like story, James left the villainous Miami Heat team that he played for for the last four years and returned home to Cleveland. Bringing James back was not the only move the Cavaliers made this offseason. They also worked out a deal with the Timberwolves to bring arguably the best power forward in the game in Kevin Love over for a few young players.

With a competitive team for the first time in four years, it seemed like the Cavaliers would come out and dominate in their home opener against a spotty Knicks team. Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and company had other plans. Limiting LeBron to just one field goal in the first half, it became evident quite early that the Knicks came to play. Lead by stellar offense, and assisted by a lack of chemistry on the Cavalier’s part, the Knicks narrowly escaped Cleveland with a win.
