The World Series: What to watch for this weekend

With two games in the books, the World Series will be heading San Francisco for Friday night’s game three. Losing the first game at home, the Kansas City Royals bounced back in game two led by outstanding pitching by Yordano Ventura and explosive hitting from the entire lineup.

The game was seen as a must-win situation for the Royals, who could not have afforded to go out west down two games to none. Moving forward we have Tim Hudson pitching for the Giants and Jeremy Guthrie for his Royals, facing off in what appears to be another potential pitching dual.

Facing a ground ball pitcher and losing their designated hitter, Billy Butler, the Royals will have to get on base and take advantage of their speed if they want to have a chance.

If the Royals can carry a lead past the fifth or sixth inning, look for their powerful bullpen to keep them on top. The Giants, like in game one, will look to hit the ball hard early, get a lead, and hold on to it with their stellar defense. While this series cannot be ended this weekend, with game four on Saturday, a sweep of this weekend’s games would definitely change the landscape of the series for both teams.
