A trio of second half goals by West Virginia (10-2-2, 3-0-1 Big 12) propelled the No. 16 Mountaineers to a 3-0 victory over the Cyclones (6-9, 0-5 Big 12) Friday night.

West Virginia first found the back of the net five minutes into the second half on a goal by Kate Schwindel.

The Mountaineers were able to tack on a pair of insurance goals courtesy of Michaela Abam and Amanda Hill in the final 20 minutes of play.

The loss is the Cyclone’s sixth straight loss and fifth straight game with out scoring a single goal.

The Cyclone’s defense had their back against the wall most of the match, as the Mountaineers outshot the Cyclones 23-2 on the night. ISU goalkeeper Andrea Swanson recorded six saves in the loss.

Iowa State will next be in action Oct. 24 in Lawrence, Kan. against the Kansas Jayhawks.
