Redshirt sophomore defensive back TJ Mutcherson runs the ball after an interception versus No. 7 Baylor on Sept. 27 at Jack Trice Stadium. The Cyclones fell to the Bears 49-28.

1. Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 Big 12)

The fourth ranked team in the NCAA was on a bye this week, but lest we forget it opened up conference play with a win against West Virginia on Sept. 20 and running back Samaje Perine was on display with 242 yards and four touchdowns.

2. Baylor (4-0, 1-0 Big 12)

Iowa State found out first hand this past weekend that Bryce Petty is worth the hype. The Bears have yet to play a strong defense this season, but Texas’ defense is currently keeping teams at 17.0 points per game.

3. Kansas State (3-1, 1-0 Big 12)

The Wildcats got one more pattycake game in UTEP, who they handily beat 58-28, before their Big 12 schedule really gets going this week when Texas Tech comes to Manhattan.

4. Oklahoma State (3-1, 1-0 Big 12)

Oklahoma State might have escaped with one against Texas Tech, but Daxx Garman’s 370 yards and four touchdowns kept his team afloat.

5. TCU (3-0, 1-0 Big 12)

The Horned Frogs found their way into the most recent AP poll, squeezing in at No. 25. Their 3-0 record might be in jeopardy on Saturday when the fourth ranked Sooners roll into town.

6. Texas Tech ( 2-2, 1-0 Big 12)

Yes, Texas Tech lost last week, but it still seems the Red Raiders are in a better place than a few others that are stuck in the Big 12 doldrums. It’s also worth wondering if the game would have turned out the same had Davis Webb not gone out.

7. Texas ( 2-2, 1-0 Big 12)

Texas looked okay last weekend, but keep in mind that Kansas was on the other side of the ball. The stingy Longhorn defense that forced four picks last week will be tested mightily by Bryce Petty and his crew of receivers this weekend.

8. West Virginia ( 2-2, 0-1 Big 12)

Coming off a bye week and playing Kansas isn’t the worst thing that could happen to West Virginia. They’ll be looking to even their Big 12 record after dropping one to Oklahoma on Sept. 20.

9. Kansas (2-2, 0-1 Big 12)

Was Charlie Weis doing a whole lot for Kansas football? Not really. Does firing a coach not even midway through the season usually lead to stability? Not always.

10. Iowa State (1-3, 0-2 Big 12)

The Cyclones continue to be the cellar dwellers and it might stay that way for another week as they travel to Oklahoma State this weekend. The schedule eases up a bit after that when they play Toledo on Oct. 11.
