The return of the NBA not the same without Craig Sager

Since April, The Turner Network has been missing one of their best sideline reporters, Craig Sager, who has been battling acute myeloid leukemia. Known for his animated personality, and even more eccentric wardrobe, Sager has been a staple in sports reporting for over four decades. While he has covered a multitude of sports with various different companies over his years, he is most known for his NBA coverage for Turner and his interviews with coaches and players between quarters.

His biggest heckler, Gregg Popovich, who teases and patronizes Sager whenever they have an interaction, has been one of his biggest supporters. This past spring when Sager was initially diagnosed, Sager’s son, Craig Sager Jr., interview Popovich between quarters of a Spurs game and a heartfelt, sincere moment between the two was had. While there is no timetable for Sager’s return, players, fans and coaches alike are all hoping for a speed recovery.
