The ISU swimming & diving team defeated North Dakota 198.5-98.5 and Nebraska-Omaha 224-73 Oct. 31 at Beyer Hall.

This being the first double dual of the season for the Cyclones, Beyer Hall was loud and hectic as swimming and diving competed concurrently with three teams performing.

Iowa State started the double dual meet by claiming first and second place in five straight events.

Karyl Clarete, a record holder in three distance events for Iowa State, has been a dominant force this season. Clarete and Elizabeth Kleiner finished first and second in both the distance events.

Amanda Paulson finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and Mary Kate Luddy finished second in the 200-yard butterfly. Paulson and Luddy were the only swimmers or divers to not have a teammate finish by their side at the halfway point of the meet.

Iowa State swept its first event of the evening in the 200-yard breaststroke. Kasey Roberts, Danica Delaquis, and Ali Stearns finished first, second and third, respectively.

ISU divers Elyse Brouillette and Julie Dickinson took the top two spots in 3-meter diving. Brouillette was the only scorer for Iowa State in 1-meter diving, finishing first.

The ISU swimming & diving team will head down to Ft. Worth, Texas, for its first away meet of the season to take on Texas Christian Nov. 7.
