Finding the right timeless timepiece

Top Tips:

Find the watch that best represents who you are and maintain your sense of style. The more simple the design the more versatile the watch becomes.

Ensure the watch speaks to what your attire says — for example, pair a sport watch with workout attire rather than a nice button up.

Wear your watch on the opposite hand you write with.

Watches come in an assortment of prices, so there is one for every budget.

To help assist with your buying experience, we’ve wrapped up the top trending styles this fall for men and women, with help from Maddy Hessel, assistant manager of Fossil in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Men

1. Oversized Face — The face of the watch is disproportionally big for the size of the strap.

2. Interchangeable Strap — The face stays the same but one is able to switch out different straps for different outfits. This is the perfect way to invest in one piece and make it versatile.

3. Sport — This is a watch that you would feel comfortable wearing to the gym. Typically available in more durable materials.

Women

1. Boyfriend Style — Similar to the men’s oversized style, it has a large face when compared to the smaller wrist strap.

“It’s a trend that’s been around for a few years now, and what we’re seeing with the boyfriend style is feminine updates, so a masculine silhouette with feminine details,” Hessel said.

2. Rose Gold — This has nothing to do with the style and all to do with the color. The gold base with pink tones give rose gold watches a feminine, stylish and unique feel.

3. Leather Strap — More for the casual woman, this style offers basic utility with a lighter, more comfortable feel.
