Cyclones fall again to the Longhorns

ISU softball wanted to turn around their game Saturday afternoon against the Texas Longhorns.

Friday afternoon the cyclones started off the double header loosing 19-6. The second game of the double header the Cyclones kept the game closer. They worked the offense and defense but it was not enough for the Cyclones to pull out a win. The ending score was 2-0.

Iowa State tried for the third game of the series to pull out a win.

With the starting pitcher Katie Johnson out due to medical reasons, junior Paris Imholz started the day off pitching.

In the first inning, Imholz hit a hitter shoulder. She also let up 2 runs in the first inning.

Up at bat for the Cyclones sophomore Brittany Gomez had a base hit to get her on base. She stole and got her career 21 stolen bases this season.

Starting off the second inning Longhorns had a two run homerun putting the score 5-0.

In the bottom of the third Gomez scored the first run for te Cyclones putting Iowa State on the board 6-1.

The top of the fourth Texas had another homerun putting them ahead 7-1. After the homerun they put in junior Madison Jones in for pitching, She let up another homerun 10-1.

In the middle of the fourth they pulled out Imholz and put in junior Stacy Roggentien to pitch. She let up 9 runs in the inning.

Top of the fifth they pulled out Roggentien and put in Sara Rice. This was her first pitching debut. She struck out two batters as well as let up a homerun .

The game ended after the fifth because of the run rule. The final score was 17-1. The Cyclones take on North Dakota at home starting at 2.
