Cyclones foiled for second time in Oklahoma

Iowa State remains without a win in Big 12 play after it was downed Sunday afternoon by No. 18 Oklahoma, 7-0.

The ISU tennis team (8-13, 0-8 Big 12) had a chance to claim the doubles point after junior Meghan Cassens and sophomore Ana Gasparovic captured the match at the No. 2 position by a score of 8-5, leaving the doubles tally at 1-1.

The point came down to junior Ksenia Pronina and freshman Samantha Budai at No. 1 doubles, but the tandem was beat out by Mia Lancaster and Whitney Ritchie, 8-6.

It was downhill from that point on for the  Cyclones. Iowa State was swept in the singles format, and was unable to force any of the six matches to a third set.

The Cyclones will close out Big 12 play and the 2014 regular season next weekend when they head to West Virginia. Matches are set to begin at 9 a.m.
