Cyclone Hockey moving on to the semifinals in the CSCHL tournament

The Cyclone Hockey team advanced to the semifinals in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League Tournament after toppling Indiana on Friday.

In their fifth meeting this season, the No. 10 Cyclones (32-9-3, 14-5-1 CSCHL) limited the Hoosiers (6-17-3, 1-17-2 CSCHL) to only one goal in their 4-1 victory.

Forward Jon Feavel put the Cyclones on the board in the first period with his 22nd goal this season — good enough to lead the Cyclones this season.

In second period, forward Preston Blanek, who returned from a two-game suspension, added to the Cyclones lead with a goal of his own. Later in the period, forward Chris Cucullu put Iowa State up by three when he put the puck in the back of the net.

Iowa State wouldn’t escape the second without a blemish, however. IU forward Jake Novack ended ISU goalie Matt Cooper’s shutout by scoring with only 1:55 left to play in the period.

Forward Jake Bruhn put the Cyclones back up by three with an empty net goal in the third period.

Iowa State will face Ohio in the semifinals at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
